Demons Take to the Field in
Annual Watermelon Scrimmage

Dodge City High head football coach Justin Burke is taking the good with the bad from the annual Watermelon Scrimmage at Memorial Stadium Friday night.

The "good" is that nobody got hurt and the offensive line looked like a brick wall at times with its pass protection, even against the Red Demons' first-team defense that also received high praise from Dodge City's second-year head coach.

"The defense looked pretty solid, made some plays and got our hands on the ball," Burke said of his defense that returns 10 starters from a year ago. "They played hard and started to get going there at the end. Overall, they were just really solid tonight."
